Abstract
This thesis is centered upon unemployment and its effects on the health level of general population. The starting point of the study, focused on a general analysis of phenomena such as unemployment, standard types of employment and new ones, brings to the foreground and unfolds the effects of unemployment on societies and on unemployed persons. Some of the effects of unemployment, such as social exclusion, poverty, creation of two-speed societies, social conflicts have been detected and analyzed. In general terms, it has been noted that all the above are situations that perturb social consistency and menace social peace. The second chapter of the study is orientated to Health/Healthiness and its diachronically subjective concept, the factors that determine, threaten and finally create it and the differentiation of each society or era as far commonly standard diseases and contemporary health models are concerned. Bibliographical references, which point the effects of unemployment on general population’ health, and the theoretical documentation of the test cases presented compose the third chapter. By a rather satisfactory sample of bibliographical references upon the research of both short and long run effects of unemployment in humans’ health, it is radically proved that there is a primary connection and interactivity between them, independently of the gender, age or educational level.
