Tourism is one of the many aspects of daily life that tend to change, mainly due to the economic circumstances. In response to that a new innovative idea for alternative tourism has been proposed: the exchange of homes for holiday - Home Exchange. In the beginning of the present thesis the connection between entrepreneurship, innovation and tourism is discussed; Furthermore, the alternative form of tourism called “Home Exchange” is analyzed (what is it? how does it take place? How many people know about it?). Lastly, the Greek Home Exchangers’ profile is researched by means of an electronic survey. The results suggest that contemporary societies actively support those means of alternative tourism that are in contrast with the conventional mass tourism forms.
