Abstract
The writing of my dissertation focuses on the analysis and comparison of China and Korea’s naval engineering industry. China and Korea’s shipyards are considered to be of the largest ones globally and what we are basically analyzing is their development through time as well as their advantages and disadvantages. At the same time, both countries look into innovations in order to achieve a higher market share in the long term.
In the second chapter, there is an analysis on China and Korea’s shipyards and the vital role of each country’s government as to the development of the shipyards. Their shipyards contributed not only to their economic growth but to their GDP too. With regards to Korea’s shipyards, we are examining the current situation, negatively affected by the European crisis, while there has been a reduction in the orders, and the impact on Korea’s industry.
In the third chapter, there is a comparison between the two countries and an extensive analysis of their differences. We are going to prove the reasons why Korea’s industry is considered to be better regarding the know-how, manpower and innovations while the Chinese naval engineering industry is regarded as a rising power in the long term.
In the fourth chapter, we are examining the prospects of both countries and Korea’s strategic planning to enhance competition. In contrast, the growth outlook and the investment plans of Chinese shipyards in order to increase their productivity and competitiveness.
