Abstract

The effects of the global economic crisis are added in the highly cyclical that features the shipping itself. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the global economic crisis on increasing LNG – LPG carriers both in transportation and in the number of orders. In order to succeed in it, statistics and tables were analyzed. The period that is examined begins since 2000 and ends nowadays. Moreover, it is attempted a projection of the future route of LNG – LPG transports and the number of vessels as well for the next 15 years, according to orders, to new projects that are underway all over the world, and to geopolitical evolutions that are expected to tremendously affect the world energy environment. LNG – LPG market is one of the fastest developing in world maritime economy. It is a sector where many want to enter, since the demand for LNG – LPG is continually growing. The evolution in the near future is possible to bring rearrangements not only in the financial sector but also in the geopolitical level. The methodology for this research was based on the analysis of statistics. The data came mainly through subscriptions (e.g. Clarksons) and through scientific articles that are free on the web. The most important of the quoted statistic analysis has to do with which countries import and export liquefied natural gas from 2000 until today and with the evolution of the world fleet of LNG and LPG carriers.
