The present thesis presents an adaptive educational system which offers both students and instructors of the Logo programming language, a thorough learning and teaching process, respectively. Students can enroll in the information system and, depending on their personal characteristics, study the material divided in different chapters. A pool of testing questions and drilling exercises for self-assessment - suited each time to the user’s level - facilitates smooth transition from one chapter to the other. The system is thoroughly interactive. For example, lessons that gradually cover the cognitive goal are dynamically created, taking into account the users’ cognitive level, their learning style and their educational development. Instructors can check their students’ progress and update the system in a surprisingly easy way. Finally, various multimedia elements combined with learning theories as well as the principles of educational software design provide to any user a friendly and appealing environment.
