Businesses during the past few years, especially after 1990 until today, make their presence evident in the international business. One of the main reasons for this is the liberalization of markets, services and goods by more and more countries. This has the effect of creating a global market, through which a constantly increased competition is caused among firms. Businesses therefore to survive in this competitive field, invest in several foreign countries to ensure the increase in turnover, profits and, the most basic from all, the survival. In the past the most common way to expand a business in a foreign country was by exports. Over the years, companies have started to prefer foreign direct investments either through acquisitions or through the creation of new facilities in the host country. Greece is currently ranked among the top 50 investor countries. Many Greek companies such as banks, shipping companies, crafts, and manufacturing companies operate in foreign countries by contributing to the country's trade balance .Investing in creating subsidiaries and host countries ensure their viability and increase their turnover in a volatile investment scene.
