Abstract
The above Dissertation intends to highlight the problems arising from the Maritime Piracy over the last years, focusing on the total costs that occur in the sector of Maritime and the global trade more generally. The use of Literature review helps to estimate each cost separately, by focusing mainly on the cost of Re-routing from ‘Suez’ to ‘Cape of Good Hope’ route. On the last entity of this project, we attempt a comparative voyage analysis in order to examine and compare the results of the total costs that arise from a possible re-routing, by using real voyage costs of three different vessels of ‘Evalend Shipping’. The results become even more interesting when we take in account the opportunity cost that arises with the choice of Cape Town route.
