This study has been structured in a way to introduce the reader to the basic principles, after he first gains a basic understanding about fundamental concepts and definitions. At the beginning it is determined the definition and disciplines of psychiatry science. It follows a reference to the history, showing the concept of mental illness, the birth and progress of the science of Psychiatry. Emphasis is placed on the most important reform efforts achieved in psychiatric care and psychiatric presented in modern structures. Moving on, the study expands into the science of human resource management. This section focuses on the importance of human resources' development. Follows the description of the mental health staff, the contribution of each professional, the concept, the operations and the effectiveness of the medical team. Job satisfaction represents the main factor which is further is being examined mainly from the perspective of the multidimensional approach and as well as its main measurement tools. In relation to the concept of job satisfaction, the definition of burn out, the theoretical models, the role and impact of it to mental health professionals, and the relative strategies to deal with it are cited on this section. Then this study analyses the theoretical models of emotional intelligence, different measures of each measurement model and its relevance to the workplace in general, more specifically in the areas of health and its relationship with the performance of staff. Also is being given the definition of job performance, the importance of assessment and measurement tools. Additional, are being presented methods to increase the work performance of mental health stuff. Next chapter focuses on benchmarking surveys which approach the dimension of staff satisfaction psychiatric hospital and community structures, and the phenomenon of "burnout" and its relationship to performance. It also examines the skills of Emotional Intelligence and their importance for the work practice. The study also explores the possible strategic methods to support stuff of mental health services. The last chapter presents the conclusions of a comparative analysis of inquiries and suggestions. According to research findings, low levels of satisfaction and low performance in mental health professionals were noticed, which are associated with lack of financial resources, high levels of burnout, lack of education, rapid socio-economic development resulting to a negative impact on the functioning of the structures, and to the poor organization and planning of the services. Taking into account the findings it is immense importance for the management of mental health services to consider examining and adopting the proper strategies for addressing successfully the problems.
