Abstract

In this thesis initially analyzed the theoretical background of the cluster, namely the businesses geographically concentrated and interconnected, studying the evolution and the operation, and further the development and their contribution to the economic cycle. In a second part, presented the relative position that have the clusters in the maritime sector and the role that they have depending on the action and scope that they acquire. The analysis of individual sectors of the maritime cluster and the examination of markets that operate these sectors was also studied in this essay, since it was a necessary stage in order then to be able to present and study the operation and development of their respective maritime cluster at European level. Then, also, the presentation of three examples of developed European maritime clusters and the examination of their separate role in economic cycle helped to the following thorough examination of the Greek cluster of maritime activities. The examination of its contents, the importance and position to the rest Greek economy, the analysis of the problems that it faces and its growth opportunities, but also the threats that occur or may occur in the future in conjunction with the proposals and measures for the protection and the preservation of its role, but also on the path to development and improvement with aim through the innovation and creative alternative face of specific issues, help and demonstrate the progress and competitiveness of maritime cluster.
