Abstract

It is an undeniable fact that teaching of Economics in secondary and higher education requires further consideration as Economics is absolutely vital to various aspects of modern societies, but it is not always taught in proper ways and methods. Especially in the Greek educational system, students come in contact with economic terms at an advanced stage of their education. Therefore, most of the pupils and university students have difficulty in meeting the standards of the study programmes of Departments of Economics due to the lack of considerable knowledge of economic issues. Taking all the above into consideration, we understand that a double problem arises because of the lack of proper education in Economics, and the short and brief presentation of economic terms and systems in secondary education in conjunction with the raised requirements of the study programmes of Departments of Economics. The objective of the present postgraduate thesis is the planning and implementation of a digital complementary educational programme which aims to help the pupils and/or university students to understand the basic economic concepts with which they will deal during their higher academic education, while at the same time it will help them acquire the necessary skills for an effective use of the economic tools. This target is achieved through a) the Study of the Methods of Teaching Economics, b) the Presentation of other similar International Attempts, c) the Planning, the Documentation, and finally d) the Implementation of the recommended complementary digital training programme.
