In the modern globalised world, each company now has a larger set of businesses to compete with, not only the ones within national borders. Following the inter-State economic associations, business economic unions count over a century of activity, every time complying with the vision and following the most appropriate strategy for the purposes of the members of the Union. Current dissertation analyzes all kinds of strategies, explains which are the steps that must be followed by a business in order to make a business transformation, and in conclusion focuses on acquisitions and mergers as basic conversion methods of business enterprises, always according to the European rules of competition. In order for a company's strategy to be applied with success in the constantly changing environment, it is absolutely necessary to diagnose some factors of the environment, within which the company interacts, and is very important for its subsequent course. The business environment is divided into external and internal, while the factors which each one includes, basically compose the macroeconomic and microeconomic environment in which each business performs its activities. Afterwards, the ambitious company must focus on consumer, analysis of the competition (in the market and in the industry), and the market, in order to ascertain the specific needs that exist, and exploit them to fill in the gaps of the specific industry. The next step is choosing the appropriate strategy, which can be low-cost strategy, diversification strategy, or focus strategy, as well as stability strategy, development strategy and internationalization strategy. In the internationalization strategy are included the methods of acquisition and mergers, which have been used in the last 20 years by the Greek credit institutions. Maybe the need for globalization to have become urgent for some of the banks, nonetheless, this phenomenon is not going to leave intact any branch of economic activity, whilst in the end, by making a cost-benefit analysis, we see that the results are positive for the participants of this type of business conversion, as well as for the environment within which businesses performs their activities.
