The existence of a handicapped person in a family puts a strain on its economics, the quality of life and the children that may exist. The target of our research was to detect the effect of vital factors on family economics. Sixty-two persons with kinetic disability filled in an improvised questionnaire on family encumbering, which included five groups of questions : Economic burden, Everyday activities, Leisure time, Health and Behavior, Young children. The men indicated a greater strain than the women in all sectors except the effect on young children. The age of the handicapped person proved to have a smaller effect on everyday activities and the number of years since becoming disabled a smaller effect on everyday activities and young children. The educational level of the handicapped person and the degree of disability did not seem to have a serious effect on the overall strain.
