This thesis is about to examine the academic literature which is directly related to the research of information systems and more specifically to the Enterprise Resource Planning Systems known as ERP. In this following throwback we will distinct the evolution of technology and business needs that constantly arise. The rapid growth of the Web in conjunction with the internet and the new philosophy in the scientific world for the consolidation of divisions within and outside an enterprise that contributed to the creation of several additional applications that meet the business needs. Also, there are several subsystems which are incorporated in the ERP systems and usually constitute integral parts of each software package for a modern business. Then, is going to be performed an analysis of information systems in conjunction with the primary sector and agricultural products. The life of these products is very short as it is mostly natural products requiring special storage conditions. The vulnerability of these products is the greatest issue for Logistics systems and the main reason for implementing new technology. Also, an analysis of the primary sector will be performed, with particular emphasis on ERP systems circulating in the global market. Then, will be analyzed highly integrated information systems that specialize in the primary sector, which has the characteristics of each one of them and the chapter ends with a summarize about these particular products. Finally, there is an attempt to extract some important conclusions from the deep analysis carried out in the previous chapters. The purpose of the subject is going to demonstrate the importance of information systems and particularly ERP systems in all sectors of the industry and especially the sector of rural development where there is lack of expertise and equipment.
