Globalization has dramatically changed the way the economy and society works. This intensified pace of globalization and especially the associated economic and social changes have ignited a very intense debate and controversy around the positive and negative effects of globalization. This confrontation evolves both in international fora and conferences, as well as protests and demonstrations, while the past decades particular emphasis is given on the protection and promotion of health and health services to promote socially responsible forms of globalization. Finally, the debate on globalization and its impact has acquired a new meaning and significance in the context of the current global economic crisis. The aim of this study is to examine globalization and its effects on health and health services, and to present the effects of globalization on health services in Greece. These effects refer to the way Greek economic crisis affects health services in Greece, as a result of economic globalization and the global and European economic crisis. The memoranda which Greece has agreed to apply, have immediate effect the implementation of great changes in various aspects of health services such as labor, finance and structure, as well as overprescribing and operation of insurance agencies, with positive and negative effects
