Abstract
The present Thesis initially deals with the issue of privatizations in general under the Port Industry, making a distinction of the ports on the basis of the implemented privatizations. Afterwards, it goes on more specifically and with more details at the issue of concessions, namely one of the forms of privatization, while in the end there are included what the European Union Law provides for the concession contracts and examples of european port management, which indicate the extent of implementation of this type of privatization. The method which was followed is that of the phenomenology, because the research into the issue of the Thesis is composite and in many cases unique. Moreover, when all the necessary data was collected, the research into a theory of concessions under the Port Industry and their implementation in the European Union followed. The Thesis therefore ends up with the conclusion that the cooperation between the public and the private sector under the Port Industry (and in this case under the concession contracts) is much more effective and profitable, not only for the associated partners, but also for the society, compared with the individual involvement of a Private Investor or a public Port Authority.
