The purpose of this study was to investigate: the after liberalization scope for further
development of the cruise market in Greece, the requirements for investments in port
facilities and / or other infrastructure, the presence of factors that might hinder growth,
and the expected contribution to income and employment. Although the liberalization
was a prerequisite for further development, it was found that, in terms of infrastructure,
major investments are required in order to convert Greek destinations from ports of call,
to ports of embarkation and subsequently multiply the economic impact, which, even
under the current conditions, is significant.
