Abstract

The Greek sign language since 2000 and Law 2817/2000, is the official language of the Deaf community of Greeks. It is a language like any other that can be analyzed and studied individually. The peculiarity of sign language is that people express themselves with hand movements, facial expression and body movements. It has its own grammar and syntax rules that differentiate it greatly from the spoken. The use of sign language is a prerequisite for membership of any person in the deaf community. It is not the degree of hearing loss, but the knowledge of the language and respect the culture of the deaf. For these reasons I decided to create an educational platform where anyone can have access to the educational material offered in the form of video on this page. The user is given the opportunity to attend courses and classified in accordance with the level of knowledge to «Beginners» and those of «Αdvanced». If the user registers the platform has the opportunity to have access to Assessment Tests which assess the level of user’s knowledge based on the answers he gives. The system is designed in such way that when it detects errors from the same unit it suggests to the user specific courses to study which seems to present cognitive weakness. This is an operational platform which offers further scope for progression from coming graduate students.
