In recent years and particularly the last two decades from the early 1990’s, logistics began to play an important role in the structure and operation of local, national or multinational enterprises in Greece. The need for optimal transfer of products from the initial stages of production until the final stages that is associated with each delivery to final customers, has raised a number of requests for projects that could contribute to research for more complete and faster methods for transportations of goods. This thesis will present a research for establishment of optimized means of transportation of goods in towns and especially in the city of Athens, the capital of Greece, where in a daily basis thousands of transportations of goods take place. Therefore, we will refer to several ways of better regulation - normalization access of cargo operations in the area of central Athens and we will also present the need for establishment of an urban freight center in the area of Attica explaining also with the impact of such a creation. Many of the proposals that will be described, are inspired by already existing cases in cities abroad. We will inspect whether it is possible for these methods to be applied in the zone of Attica.
