Abstract
This study is intended to implement Palfai index for monitoring drought in Greece. Were used rainfall and temperature data from 38 meteorological stations. The index Palfai originally applied according to its definition and then made an attempt to adapt in Greece based on the climatic characteristics of the country. Then, the kriging method created maps showing the distribution of water scarcity for the years 1989, 1990, 1993, 2000, 2003 and 2007. Finally the results of the maps were analyzed and management measures were proposed to response the problem of water scarcity.
