Abstract
The study of large datasets of moving objects could help to solve important issues, such as road traffic reduction. A major obstacle in this study, however, is the large amount of data to be collected, especially if it consists of real data, since the cost of time and materials for data recording and monitoring would be enormous. For this purpose various kinds of moving object generators have been created through time. Most of these generators do not take into consideration that moving objects often follow a given network. In this project, and depending on Brinkhoff’s moving object generator, a new generator is created that simulates trajectories of objects on real networks. This generator combines real data (the network) with user-defined properties for the data generation. So the study of the real-objects’ motions becomes much easier, since by using correct input data motions can be very close to real. Furthermore after experiments it has been proved that the production of large sets is feasible even in a home PC.
