This study aims to formulate a predictive model of the total capacity of the global liquefied natural gas transportation fleet. The first part of the study is devoted to the analysis and presentation of the theoretical framework. Through this presentation the researcher identified a series of factors which can be used to predict the total capacity of the global liquefied natural gas fleet. After the formulation of the proposed theoretical model and corresponding research hypotheses as well as the clarification of the research methodology, the research proceeds to verify the proposed research model with the help of linear regression analyses. The results of the empirical investigation confirmed the validity of the proposed model, highlighting the global GDP, oil prices, global demand for natural gas and the price of natural gas as excellent predictors of the overall capacity of the global liquefied natural gas fleet. The linear regression analysis led to the formulation of a series of linear equations. Those equations provide the ability to calculate the total capacity of the global fleet of liquefied natural gas, for a given period of time, if the values of the global GDP and oil price, for the said period, are known. The model’s predictive ability is enhanced if the values of additional model factors, that is the global consumption of natural gas and the price of natural gas, are known.
