This Thesis develops and compares the basic location theories. A comparative table showing the similarities and differentiations of the main theories is presented, from which we distinguish objectives, assumptions, supply-demand relationship, cost figures for each theory and their development in the location economics theory. It offers direct answers regarding to land use, production orientation, market areas and spatial competition, according to land theories. Next, the private sector economicy criterias for the location of Freight Village are derived and a questionnaire is formed in order to evaluate 5 possible sites for Freight Villages in Attica, under using weighted criteria and by grading each location. The results of the research are processed by a multi-criteria analysis, and their analyzed and evaluated. Then, public interest criteria and sustainability criteria are investigated. This Thesis Illustrates a generalized proposition of a certain method of analysis of the criteria and the scoring manner of all possible locations of Freight Villages. Shows its method of application and sets it applicable. Finally, the questioning emerges whether Freight Villages attract productive activities, while so far production activities embrace their development.
