Abstract
This thesis addresses a problem of preventive maintenance of the trains of a railway network. It is based on a pre-existing database that is continuously updated so that it can provide information on demand, about the state of the trains and the corresponding network. By means of graphs, various mathematical models are proposed for the description and parameterization of the train networks in general, so that they form the basis for subsequent theoretical studies. One of these models is used for the study of α problem of preventive maintenance. The algorithm used searches the database for any trains that are close to a pre-specified limit of the traveled distance in kilometers, and proposes for these trains optimal routes, outside the scheduled routing plan, that will direct them to a maintenance station of the network, using planed routes of other trains.
