The current dissertation exams the differences and the new regulations of the new convention of Rotterdam Rules and previous Hague-Visby Rules. This is achieving through the comparison of original remarks and bibliography. Most specifically, the study begins with the historical development of the rules that led to the current convention of Rotterdam Rules. The study continues with the presentation and the comparison of articles that maintain by Hague-Visby Rules. These articles changed due to the current needs of trade activities. Matters that deal the obligations and the rights of the shipper, the charterer and the maritime performing party are regulated. The fifth chapter is focused on new articles of the rules that unconsidered to be indispensable requirement for the changes in the shipping industry. Matters that till recently had not faced successfully by the shipping community, are regulated in these articles. Such as the multimodal transportations, the electronic transport records, the loading of goods on the vessels, the transportation of animals e.t.c. are some of the cases being regulated by the new rules. As the result, the reader realizes the necessity of the application of these rules and how beneficial will be for the shipping industry. Of course there is always a margin of improvement.
