Abstract
This study focuses on the issues and the consequences of climate change in coastal areas. More specifically, a detailed analysis of these changes is presented, along with the areas that are affected directly and the impact on all sectors of the economy. Furthermore, an attempt is made to highlight the ways in which these issues are dealt with. Finally, after having analyzed the effects of climate change, an in depth analysis is carried out on the ways that societies may contribute and also adapt to gradual climate changes. Moreover, the reader can easily realize that there is an urgent need of environmental policies for the confrontment of various economic matters that arise due to climate change. Last but not least, it has become evident that a delayed adoption of codes and rules may prove to be fatal, thus severely threatening the survival of these economies in the future.
