Στέγαση -- Ελλάδα ; Κατοικίες -- ΕλλάδαAbstract
The present essay attempts to study and analyze the housing conditions in Greece and tries to explore all the factors that affect one’s choice in house occupancy as well as the interaction between them. In order to achieve that, in the first chapter all the terms used in today’s international bibliography are explained, so that all the notions connected to inhabitation are clarified. In the second chapter, there is a brief presentation of the term “house” in Greece up to now and how it is affected by economic and demographic parameters, such as family structure, taxation of land property, bank loans and real estate status quo. The differences between the Greek approach in these matters and the approach of other European countries is also evaluated. In the next chapter, the Greek residential structure from 1951 to 2001 is analyzed using secondary data, while in the fourth chapter; a survey through questionnaires is conducted, in order to determine the inhabitation circumstances of the Greek People today. In the fifth and last chapter, all the results and conclusions of the essay are analyzed and a general estimation about the future of home ownership and tenancy in Greece is presented.
