Abstract
In recent years a clear need has occurred internationally for more effective and efficient public services to citizens and businesses for the benefit of time and money. We talk about a change in public administration and in particular a comprehensive plan of administrative reform throughout the public sector on new forms of governance such as the New Public Management'. e-Government is proposed as a vehicle of reform. The realization requires not only the implementation of infrastructure and communications technology as well as networking of information systems, but also the reassurance of interoperability of information systems and procedures, institutional and organizational changes in the public sector to enable public institutions to cope with the needs the new digital age. The whole operation should focus on citizens, businesses and the satisfaction of their needs. A key element of success is a fully interactive web environment that ensures the privacy and security of electronic transactions, and the reconciliation that eGovernment is a task that citizens and business can trust and use efficiently saving time and money. In Greece, the last decade in public service map there has been a rapid development of new administrative information systems along with integration of ICT infrastructure. The progress made in recent years in e-governance is important, even if an initial stage has passed where e-governance was identified with the building of infrastructure and networking in the public sector. Then specific strategic documents, initiatives and projects either completed or still "running", aimed at making the Greek public administration more efficient and more competitive in international environment. The publication of the Framework for Electronic Government last year in conjunction with the progress of the project interconnection to the public is the most important achievements of the Greek reality. But we are still in the middle, constantly changing and the central planning of the whole route should be adjusted with global developments. In the future, even more efficient use and search of electronic public services in an environment characterized by the enormity of the information requires focus on innovation, technologies and knowledge management systems. The further development of eGovernment includes collaborative effort, exchange of experiences on best practices at both national and European level to achieve diffusion of acquirement and knowledge.
