This thesis attempts to analyze the various and inexhaustible legal issues arising during the forming of electronic and Internet (or not) contracts that compose the main part of electronic transactions. In the first chapter of this thesis, references are made on Internet including: positive and negative issues, usage statistics in Greece and Europe, internet addiction, crime, types of threats, ways to protect etc. The second chapter presents the necessity of protecting intellectual property and personal data on the Internet, within the framework of the conditions that have been shaped by the application of new technologies in all aspects of social and economic life. The third chapter introduces the electronic transactions and their specific characteristics in general as well as an investigation concerning the categories of possible contractual relationships that can occur, based on the location and capabilities of each subject on the Internet, while dealing with the problems of the location as a link of the private international law in relation to the Internet. In the fourth chapter, after an extensive analysis of Internet services contracts, it is attempted to answer the question “which is the law applicable to these contracts?” The fifth chapter deals with the preparation of contracts and the evidential value of electronic documents. The appendix includes examples of Internet services contracts, directives, regulations and case law, decisions, opinions, news and issues related to this thesis. The last unit of this paper includes the conclusions as well as speculations on the conflicting legal values existing in the domain under consideration.
