Abstract
The applications related to Virtual Worlds are developing for more than 20 years. The wide acceptance of online gaming and social networking services has led to the further development of a wide variety of solutions for Virtual Worlds, covering different subject areas, range of users, environments, operating and economic models of conservation. With their further development and "maturity", Virtual Worlds are becoming valuable and prospective educational tools. In the case of Second Life, the environment supports "non-directed learning”, the formation of communities and many other features that allow the correct application of constructivist learning model. The advanced technological infrastructure and philosophy, the well-structured economic system and the large size of user generated content, bring Second Life as one of the leading platforms of Virtual Worlds. The standard functional space CoSy-Llab_SL, built within Second Life, aims to provide a collaborative solution for team members of the "CoSy-Llab" Laboratory, and help introduce new users into the environment of virtual worlds. The evaluation of usability and solutions offered by the application, done during the design and manufacturing process, led to a wider and better understanding of the needs and requirements that are met in a virtual world.
