In this study the concepts of unemployment, employment and workforce were examined in great length, as well as the types and the economic reasons for unemployment. Furthermore, in this study the general developments for unemployment and workforce for Greece, as well as for European countries were presented and analyzed for 2005, 2006 and the first two quarters of 2007. Finally, using the method of time series decomposition, this study examines the behavior of unemployment for Greece and predicts future behavior of unemployment, using this quantitative analysis.
