The establishment of an ouzo distillery constitutes a strategic investment aimed at leveraging Greek tradition and the international recognition enjoyed by this particular beverage. As a product with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, Ouzo is intrinsically linked to Greece’s cultural heritage and especially to the island of Lesvos, where it has become a symbol of local gastronomic identity.
This preliminary feasibility study examines the creation of a production unit for authentic, traditional, high-quality ouzo, with the goal of expanding production to include modern products such as ready-to-drink cocktails based on ouzo. This expansion seeks to meet the needs of both traditional consumers and younger audiences who are looking for innovative forms of alcoholic beverage consumption, while simultaneously enhancing the company’s competitiveness.
The business plan is structured around strategic marketing analysis, segmenting the market into two main categories: traditional ouzo and ready-to-drink cocktails. The former primarily targets traditional consumers aged over 35, while the latter focuses on younger audiences seeking easier and more modern consumption options. The financial analysis of the plan confirms the viability of the investment. The total cost amounts to €380,000, with 40% covered by equity and the remaining 60% through bank financing.
"Geia Mas", which means Cheers in Greek and its the name of the product!
