This thesis focuses on the significance and impact of the TikTok platform on Generation Z, examining how this new social media medium has managed to attract the interest of young people through innovative and technologically advanced methods. After presenting a general overview of TikTok and its functionalities, a comparative analysis follows with other popular platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, focusing on the differences and similarities in usage, content, and user engagement. The study also examines how the pandemic influenced the increase in TikTok usage, as well as the risks associated with the platform. Furthermore, the benefits of TikTok in areas such as the economy, politics, and culture are highlighted, while directions for future research are proposed through three case studies. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the dynamics and influence of TikTok in modern society, especially within Generation Z.
