This Master’s thesis focuses on the development of a digital guide for the creation of board
games enriched with augmented reality (AR) elements, utilizing the ARTutor platform. The main
aim of the study is to empower teachers of all educational levels to design and implement
innovative learning experiences that combine the physical and the digital world. The theoretical
framework highlights the pedagogical potential of AR-based games, while also presenting the
challenges that limit their integration into education. A review of related programs and training
initiatives demonstrates the absence of structured guides that combine board games and
augmented reality, particularly those designed to address the needs of teachers. The research
part analyzes the design and implementation of the digital guide, which was organized as a six
week training program hosted on Google Classroom. The guide is structured into distinct units,
including a welcome and introduction, game design, development of digital content, creation of
physical materials, presentation of the ARTutor platform, testing and reflection, and finally a
concluding assessment. Through this progression, teachers are supported step by step in
developing both the technical and pedagogical skills required for the creation of AR-enhanced
board games. The final chapter presents the evaluation of the guide, identifies limitations, and
proposes improvements and future directions for enrichment. Despite these constraints, the
guide demonstrates coherence, clarity, and strong pedagogical grounding, offering a practical
and accessible tool for educators. Overall, the thesis contributes to addressing an identified gap
in the literature and in educational practice by providing teachers with an innovative and user
friendly resource that fosters creativity and supports the design of experiential learning
environments through augmented reality.
