This paper examines the interaction between the economy and mental health, as well as potential solutions to address the related challenges. Specifically, it analyzes how economic conditions affect mental health, as well as the economic consequences of mental illnesses on the broader society. The increasing emphasis of governments and businesses on economic data for decision-making makes it necessary to conduct economic evaluations of mental health policy strategies. The study is based on a review of scientific literature and focuses on three main areas: the institutional framework governing mental illnesses, the relationship between private insurance markets and mental health care, and the treatment and support system for patients.Initially, the general framework of mental health is presented, including mental illnesses, criteria for hospitalization, and existing coverage and payment systems for care. Then, the relationship between the economy and mental health is examined, analyzing fiscal burden, the impact of the economic crisis, and the consequences of mental illnesses on the economic system. Finally, policies and strategies are proposed to reduce these impacts, both through government interventions and private sector initiatives, with particular emphasis on the ethical risks arising from insurance policies. The paper concludes by highlighting the need for a comprehensive economic approach in mental health policy and the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to effectively manage these issues.
