Urban green indubitably plays a decisive role in improving air quality and in mitigating the phenomenon of the urban heat island, thus contributing to making cities “greener.” Plants and trees act as natural purifiers, capturing pollutants such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and various other suspended particles, while reducing the concentration of harmful substances in the atmosphere. Through various mechanisms, a decrease in temperature is achieved and at the same time the overheating caused by hard surfaces, such as asphalt and concrete, is limited. Green spaces, such as parks and green roofs, contribute significantly to addressing thermal stress, while at the same time enhancing biodiversity, improving the mental health of residents, and creating more pleasant living conditions. It is apparent that the existence, enhancement, and proper management of urban greenery constitute a necessary tool for the adaptation of cities to contemporary environmental challenges and, consequently, for the upgrading of the quality of life and living standards of people in cities.
