Abstract

This paper examines the importance and role of Business Analysis in the field of Information Technology. It analyzes the contribution of the Business Analyst (BA) in identifying business needs, defining requirements, and delivering effective solutions. Based on both literature and the author's personal experience, the main characteristics and most used theoretical and practical tools are presented, along with a real-world application scenario. Emphasis is placed on the process of information gathering and its documentation within the framework of business analysis. Furthermore, the paper discusses the relationships and overlaps with other roles and areas involved in IT projects, such as Stakeholders, external partners, the Systems Analyst, and the Project Manager. The paper aspires to serve as both a theoretical and practical guide to understanding the role of the BA in IT projects.
