In the age of the digital revolution, intellectual property faces multiple challenges and opportunities.
This thesis focuses on the analytical exploration of how blockchain technology can transform
copyright protection and management.
This thesis begins with an introduction to blockchain technology, including an analysis of how it
works, types of blockchain, and how to create and operate a blockchain network. The process of
creating a block and the progress of transactions is also examined, as well as the different types of
algorithms such as Proof of Work and Proof of Stake.
One of the key areas discussed is the applications of blockchain technology in the field of
copyright. In detail, the ways in which blockchains can be used to record, monitor and manage
copyright are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on smart contracts, which can automate the
process of enforcing the terms of contracts and ensure the integrity and security of transactions.
In addition, the use of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) in combination with blockchain for
the management and distribution of multimedia is explored. The applications of IPFS in media
storage, monitoring and management are examined, as well as the security and transparency it
offers in media distribution. The use of these technologies may offer new solutions to tackle piracy
and secure the rights of creators.
Through detailed research, examples of real-world applications of blockchain technology in
various sectors such as e-government and copyright management are presented, highlighting the
importance of integrating blockchain technology as a means to address contemporary challenges
and as a catalyst for a more efficient and fairer system of rights distribution in the digital age.
This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution of intellectual property
through blockchain technology, highlighting its importance in the protection and management of
digital rights and offering a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges that arise.
