Abstract

This thesis aims to cover issues surrounding the topic of medically assisted reproduction. Initially, a brief reference is made to the regulation of the issue in the European and International field, while for the most part, this study focuses on an overview of the legislative framework for medically assisted reproduction (MRA) in the Greek legal order. In this way, the evolution of the legislation is examined but at the same time light is shed on the issues that have arisen either due to recent reforms or social changes that do not find legal basis. The issue of the protection of personal health data, particularly in the context of medically assisted reproduction, is then addressed. The conditions for lawful processing based on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are analysed. Also, the relationship of this regulation with other legislation is examined, while taking into account the conditions that have emerged regarding the sharing and management of health data in the light of rapid technological developments . At the same time, the issue of the processing of personal data in the context of the medically assisted reproduction is examined in accordance with what is in force in the Greek legal order.
