This thesis presents the theoretical design of an innovative mobile application aimed at promoting sustainable urban mobility through personalized travel recommendations. In response to contemporary environmental challenges—such as climate change, traffic congestion, and air pollution—the proposed application, GreenMove, utilizes mobile technologies, geolocation data, and user preferences to suggest eco-optimal routes. It incorporates behavioral change strategies including gamification, reward systems, and social comparison to actively encourage users to adopt greener modes of transport. The study offers an in-depth analysis of sustainable mobility principles, the socio-demographic and psychological factors influencing travel behavior, and the role of mobile technologies in supporting environmentally conscious commuting. Additionally, the system architecture, core functionalities, and interface mockups are presented with a focus on user accessibility and engagement. Although no functional prototype is implemented, the thesis delivers a complete and actionable design framework that can serve as a foundation for future development. Ultimately, the work highlights the potential of digital tools to support the shift toward sustainable travel behavior by making eco-friendly choices more accessible, appealing, and compatible with modern urban life.
