Abstract
This dissertation examines Greek-Turkish relations during the period 1923–1930, immediately following the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne, through the lens of the Greek press. The analysis focuses on the shaping of public opinion, the depiction of diplomatic rapprochement between Greece and Turkey, and the key events that influenced bilateral relations. By reviewing and analysing newspaper articles from that era, the study identifies the narratives and rhetorical patterns used to present the new geopolitical reality. Special emphasis is placed on the 1930 Venizelos–Atatürk Agreement, which marked a turning point in the effort to normalize relations. The dissertation aims to contribute to a better understanding of the role of the media in interpreting and recording history, as well as to the study of early Greek-Turkish rapprochement within a broader European context.
