This thesis, entitled "Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Sustainable Development", examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to promote the environmental, economic and social goals of sustainable development. It begins by setting the theoretical framework for both AI and sustainable development, covering their historical evolution, the key AI technologies and the three fundamental pillars of sustainable development.
The analysis then focuses on the contribution of AI in promoting sustainable development through its applications in the context of the three key dimensions of sustainability: environmental, social and economic. It explores how AI can enhance efficiency in natural resource management, promote social well-being and support economic growth in an environmentally friendly manner.
Finally, the thesis examines the challenges arising from the use of artificial intelligence for sustainable development, as well as future trends emerging for this rapidly evolving technology and its applications in promoting sustainability. At the same time, the need for the development of a strong regulatory framework is highlighted, one that ensures the proper and responsible utilization of this technology for the benefit of society and the environment.
