This undergraduate thesis examines Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and their role within the framework of modern retail trade. Its aim is to provide a theoretical approach to the functions, advantages, and technological infrastructure offered by WMS, as well as to design a complete information system tailored to the needs of a retail environment. The study employs bibliographic and analytical methodology, based on reputable scientific sources and real-world examples to cover both the theoretical and applied dimensions of the topic.
Following the methodological approach, the thesis first presents the characteristics and categories of Information Systems, followed by an analysis of WMS as subsystems that support inventory management and supply chain flows. Furthermore, it explores the requirements and specificities of the retail sector and develops a hypothetical scenario of WMS implementation in a fashion retail company (StyleLine), including full technical specifications.
The findings show that implementing a WMS in a retail environment enhances operational efficiency, inventory tracking accuracy, and customer experience. WMS is not only an automation tool but also a strategic infrastructure component that can lead to a competitive advantage for businesses.
