This dissertation examines the evolving strategic partnership between the United States and Greece, with main focus given on energy collaboration in the Eastern Mediterranean. Significant quantities of hydrocarbon that were discovered created new opportunities and challenges for broader cooperation and security in this region. This study explores the motivations behind the U.S.-Greece partnership and include parameters that have to do with shared interests in energy security, economic development, and regional stability. A comprehensive analysis of policy documents, energy agreements, and bilateral initiatives, is taking place. Through this analysis the research highlights how the U.S. and Greece are leveraging their relationship to address critical energy issues, such as diversification of energy sources, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability. This dissertation also assesses the impact of this partnership on broader regional dynamics, including relations with neighboring countries and alignment with European Union energy policies. By situating the U.S. – Greece energy collaboration within the broader context of international relations and energy geostrategy, this work contributes to a deeper understanding of how strategic partnerships can shape regional energy landscapes and influence global energy governance. The findings suggest that the U.S. – Greece partnership not only strengthens bilateral ties but also enhances the strategic importance of the Eastern Mediterranean as a key energy corridor in the 21st century.
