Hydrogen has been gaining grounds on the political agenda, showing important opportunities and raising challenges, especially in the current conditions of infrastructure, production, economic peculiarities, regulatory/political framework, and the role of it in the energy mix within the European Union. The purpose of this specific analysis is to add another perspective to the question, "How could hydrogen infrastructure in Europe be further developed, in conjunction with the political and regulatory framework that surrounds it, without which, the implementation of any long-term and short-term goals is deemed impossible, in order for hydrogen, as an energy carrier, to become a significant part of Europe's energy mix?" This question will be approached within the context of energy transition policies towards "green" energy, as the author supports the potential of hydrogen as potentially one of the most significant decarbonization elements for energy production, with minimal to zero emissions.
