Abstract

In our days shipping is the primary mode of the international trade. This previous fact including the fact that the shipping industry is extremely harmful for the environment due to the frequent amount of transports and the fuels that are being used made the need for a “green shipping” and the need to find/explore more energy management systems greater than ever. This is also the primary goal of the society and the economy, considering the shipping industry’s main aspect for the foreseeable future is the “green shipping”. Actually, as it is globally known, IMO’s number one goal is for shipping to manage to reach the level of decarbonization by 2050. This study focuses on the presentation of the energy management systems and what their aspects are, in order to help the shipping industry achieve the goals that have been set and how these systems can actually be applied in the industry through a network of companies that offer the much needed solutions, which are in line with the energy management systems.
