In recent years, the shipping industry, under the guidance of international regulations, has been faced with the challenge of finding solutions to reduce emissions produced by ship operations. Both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union (EU) are intensifying pressure on shipping companies to improve the energy efficiency of their vessels and simultaneously reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the stages involved in conducting a Ship Energy Audit using core methods, as well as the process of compiling a proper Energy Audit Report. This report includes all the necessary data and measurements required to draw well-founded conclusions. Additionally, it seeks to present the technical and official procedures followed, along with a list of tools and equipment that can be used to achieve reliable assessments.
Furthermore, an Energy Audit will be conducted on a Cement Carrier. Available data from Shop Tests and Sea Trials will be utilized and evaluated for their adequacy and relevance to the purposes of the Energy Audit. Finally, an Energy Audit Report will be drafted, and the corresponding conclusions will be discussed.
