Abstract

This thesis entitled «Technological Developments and New Mobile Services: The Case of M-governance and M-banking» was prepared in the context of the Master's Programme "Applied Public Economics and Policy". The development of technology in the last decades has been rapid and has affected various sectors. Mobile devices, mobile banking and mobile governance were the most affected. The purpose of this paper is to examine the scope of adoption of innovative M-banking and M-governance services with a focus on user satisfaction, the difficulties they face while using them and the future services they would like to see in the future. The data collected (sample of 103 people) was analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively providing Greek Banks and Public Governments with valuable information for the improvement of their services. The survey concludes that mobile technologies have positively transformed people's daily lives. However, there is still a small percentage of users who are unable to keep up with these technological innovations for various reasons (e.g. security and privacy). Finally, the research suggests directions for future research that will contribute to the further development and improvement of mobile services with a view to massive adoption of these technologies.
