The purpose of this thesis is to study e-government in the context of accelerating processes in the public sector, but also in the context of citizen satisfaction. In particular, the thesis studies the concept of e-government, the positive elements resulting from it, as well as the possible problems related to its implementation. Further, it presents in detail the e-government in Europe and in Greece and studies the current situation of these, as well as the prospects that are opening up. Emphasis is placed on the study of e-government applications in the Greek public administration, as well as on the study of good practices from the global community, Europe and Greece. Finally, good practices of e-government are also examined, concerning the improvement and further acceleration of procedures.
In the second part of the paper, an empirical investigation of the issue is carried out. In particular, citizens' views on e-government and its effectiveness are examined in the light of the acceleration of procedures in the public sector. The results of the survey revealed that the more frequently the sample participants use e-government services, the more satisfied they are with them. At the same time, it was found that people aged 56-70 years old and belonging to the categories of contract workers, unemployed or employed in domestic work show a higher level of satisfaction with the e-services of public administration.
