This thesis deals with the analysis of the capital structure of shipping companies listed
on the US Stock Exchange. In more detail, it deals with the analysis of the capital
structure of 74 shipping companies listed on the US Stock Exchange according to the
dimensions of Profitability and Risk, as well as whether the results of this analysis align
with the Pecking Order and Trade Off theories.
The thesis is analyzed in five (5) chapters.
In the first chapter, the introduction on the thesis is made, where the purpose of the
thesis is formulated, as well as a brief presentation of the content of the research and
the study that took place.
In the second Chapter, the related literature review is listed, which governs the capital
structure of companies, specializing in listed shipping companies.
The third Chapter follows the presentation of the methodology of the analysis that took
place, while in the fourth Chapter a thorough analysis of the financial data of 74 listed
shipping companies on the US Stock Exchange takes place, as original research that is
also the main part of the thesis, with a detailed statistical and economic interpretation
of the results of the analysis.
Finally, in the fifth Chapter, the conclusions drawn are formulated and the response of
the thesis to its purpose is established, while proposals for further research are also
formulated.
