The study compares different funding models, analyzing their sources, challenges, and
impacts on the quality of education.
In the theoretical part, the thesis defines the "funding of education" as the total public
and private expenditure intended to cover the operational needs of education. In the

international organizations and private entities in modern funding is highlighted.
Additionally, the structure of education and the compulsory nature of attendance in
various countries are analyzed, including Greece, where compulsory education lasts 11
years. The study also examines the effectiveness of educational systems through the
PISA survey, presenting the results of countries in the North and South.
Funding models in the EU are analyzed, examining the way money is collected and
spent, with distinctions at national, regional, local, and school levels. In particular, the
funding of Greek schools, their funding principles at the municipal level, and the
sources of funding are examined. Additionally, the role of the director in managing
school revenues is analyzed.
The following chapters present the funding of schools in the North and South, such as
in Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands, and Denmark, as well as in Spain, Italy, Malta,
and Greece. Subsequently, alternative funding methods are analyzed, such as
crowdfunding, sponsorships, and European programs. Finally, the relationship between
funding and the effectiveness of school units is examine.
In the research section, the study describes the methodology, which is based on
comparative pedagogy and content analysis. The similarities and differences between
the educational systems are presented, with an emphasis on effectiveness and economic
investments. The study concludes with findings on the need to improve school funding
to achieve better learning outcomes.
